It’s wintertime and maintaining your skin and hair doesn’t come easy. The chilly, dry air can be disastrous for both. Here are a few tips to prevent your skin and hair from going dry and protecting them from the weather.

1) Wear a scarf and a pair of socks.

Its best to keep yourself covered especially when you’re commuting to and fro from work. Cover your hair and a bit of your face with a scarf. Put on those gloves and socks to protect your hands and feet from going dry.

2) Invest in a good quality conditioner

Shampooing your hair too much removes the moisture from your hair. So, try and avoid shampooing frequently. Instead, rinse your hair with every day to keep them clean without taking away the moisture. Also, make it a habit to use a good conditioner on your hair right after rinsing your hair. Use luke warm water instead of hot, boiling water. Boiling hot water sometimes damages your hair.

3) Apply a moisturizer on your body

Get into the habit of applying a moisturizer every day after a bath, not only on your face but also on the rest of your body. You can also switch to olive oil if you can’t get your hand on a good moisturizer. This will prevent your skin from the cold winds and keep it soft throughout the day.

Apply a lip balm or a lip gloss atleast thrice a day to avoid your lips from going dry. You can also scrub it to make them soft and remove flaky skin. It will act a moisturizer alongside, creating a barrier between your lips and the cold wind.

5) Hydrate yourself and eat a balanced diet.

Nothing keeps your skin and hair healthier than a balanced diet and lots of water. Include lots of juicy fruits and vegetables in your diet. Having 8–10 glasses of water will keep you hydrated all day. Bananas, apples, pineapples, papaya, peaches and lemons are specifically good for your skin and hair.

I know you might not look your best wearing that scarf on the road but trust me that’s the only way to prevent damaging your skin and hair during the winter months.
